Patriotic Pageant

Nick represented Michigan in a fourth grade patriotic pageant. Sorry the pics are so small - Scott took them with his phone.

The coolest part was that he got to play "Grand Old Flag" on his trombone at the beginning of the show. The one problem was that Daddy got there a few minutes AFTER the beginning of the show. Oh well! At least he got to hear him show the state symbols of Michigan. And of course, they sang "Fifty Nifty United States". Cause it just wouldn't be elementary school otherwise!

Kairi's Solo - 8th Grade Spring Concert

Kairi played the intro and outro of "Divinum Mysterium" during the Spring Concert tonight. We are so proud of her. She is becoming a very accomplished musician.

Elementary...Jazz

Tonight marks the only occasion on which Kai and Nick will appear in the same concert (with the exception of marching band). They both did a fabulous job! Nicky was especially great - he performed several songs that only fifth graders were supposed to play. He was told to play by the band teacher because he does such a great job with his trombone.
Can't wait to see them marching together!

I Teach Seventh Grade. And Sometimes Preschool.

And often there isn't much difference between the two.

But then, we never get to play with play-doh in seventh grade!

Summer Nights

We love the drive-in. We went to see Furry Vengeance (ew...) and How to Train Your Dragon (surprisingly good) this weekend. It was nice to do something fun as a family. Lately, we've all been busy trying to finish the year and broke trying to save for vacation, so a nice evening out was a perfect break.
